Heru Finalizes Preparations for Series of ASEAN Summits with Foreign Ministry

The ASEAN Summit series will be continued in Jakarta after its implementation in Labuan Bajo in early May. Various preparations were made by Jakarta Provincial Government together with Foreign Ministry (Kemenlu) and related institutions to ensure that the international conference runs smoothly.
Several things were discussed
Jakarta Acting Governor, Heru Budi Hartono then held a coordination meeting with Foreign Ministry Secretary General, Cecep Herawan along with staff at Jakarta City Hall, Central Jakarta, Tuesday (5/23).
The meeting discussed preparations for ASEAN Foreign Ministers' Meeting (AMM)/Post Ministerial Meetings (PMC) which will take place on July 8-14, 2023 and ASEAN Plus/ASEAN+3 Summit September on 5-7, 2023.

He said currently the discourse on implementing work from home for the community was being studied as part of the success of holding this series of ASEAN Summit. The discussion would also involve Polda Metro Jaya and Kodam Jaya.
"Various preparations for holding the ASEAN Summit series in Jakarta are conducted in mutual cooperation, cross-sectoral cooperation, including road repairs and street light lighting by the Bina Marge Agency, traffic management by the Transportation Agency, and Health Agency preparing doctors needed at location of the accommodation, and Education Agency prepared school children to welcome the delegations from various countries. Every office building in Jakarta can also be enlivened by putting up banners, thus we can bring this celebration together," he explained.
Foreign Ministry Secretary General, Cecep Herawan explained as many as 36 countries and various international organizations would attend the AMM/PMC, while the ASEAN Plus Summit would be attended by 26 countries and international organizations. Hence, coordination with various parties was needed to make this international event a success.
"This is a big event, as the main partner countries will also be present. So, close synergy is needed with the Jakarta Government on how we can jointly make this series of events a success," he explained.
He hoped that the community could be well socialized and support this series of events.
"We agreed that starting in July, hopefully in June, we will be able to carry out massive outreach activities in the midst of the community, which we will carry out together and simultaneously. Thus, there is a complete sense of community ownership of the activities or series of ASEAN meetings in Jakarta," he closed.
